What material is used for matting?

Matt effect, is a major subject in the chemical market. There are many flatting objects in daily life but they will not create 

the light reflection to obstruct your vision. Common used objects like furniture, paper, plastics and others are processed 

matte effect. Then what materials can be used for creating matte effect? This depends on the objects that being matted. 

Normally, we use chemical additives to create matte effect. And we call this type additive for Matting Agent. Matting agent 

is mainly classified into two categories.

* Delusterant: this matting agent is mainly used in chemical fiber production. It is added into fiber-forming polymer before

spinning. This can enhance the strong light reflection on the surface of fiber.The main material of this matting agent is 

TiO2.

* Duller: this matting agent is mainly used in coatings or films. Its working principle is to make the coating's surface be 

rough to decrease the surface glossiness. The main materials of this matting agent are diatomaceous earth, synthetic 

silica. For the low cost consideration. Synthetic silica is more popular for using as matting agent. Silica matting agent

is dispersed evenly by tiny suspension substrates on the coating's surface. When the coating being dry, this suspension

substrates will be cured on the surface to create a rough image which can decrease the property of coating's light reflection.

What is the purpose of silica matting agent adding into medical film coating?

Some coating types are designed for vision attraction, some coating types are designed for protection. But most of coatings 

without matte treatment have strong light reflection ability. Why this solution happens is because coating's self properties. 

In normal state, coating preforms as a mirror state. It will not only adsorb the light from everywhere,but also reflect the light in 

most instances.

* High Purity: During the medical film coating's production, silica will be mixed with other polymers, pigment, additives and 

other materials. Silicon dioxide has chemically inertness which will not act with other materials in the coating. This means 

that it can create high pure coating without impurities.

* Photoperceptivity: Our WF-150-W silica matting agent has extremely matting effect. It is dispersed evenly on the coating's 

surface to create a rough but a not smooth surface. When the a beam of light is shining, the light will be dispersed to everywhere.

This means it will enhance the coating's super strong light reflection ability. On the other side, adding our silica matting agent in 

medical film coating can change its photoperceptivity.

* Surface Resistance: Our WF-150-W silica matting agent create a rough surface to the coating. In some extend, it makes the 

coating's particles be thicker. Coating being thicker, the abilities include water resistance, scratches resistance and chemical 

corrosive resistance are stronger.
