SiO2 As Matting Agent For Water-based Coating

SiO2, also known as silicon dioxide or silica, can be used as a Matting Agent in water-based coatings. Matting agents are 

used to reduce the gloss or shine of a coating and create a matte or satin finish.

SiO2 particles can be incorporated into water-based coatings to create a rough or textured surface, which scatters light and 

reduces the glossiness of the coating. This can be achieved by either using nano-sized SiO2 particles or by modifying the
