* Matting property

This property is the most important function of matting powder in ink coatings. The most standard test standard for matting property

is to add the same amount of matting powder to the same system, make architectural coatings, and then make the same thickness of

paint layer. Generally speaking, matting powder with large average particle size has good matting property, and matting powder with

high porosity has good matting efficiency.

* Transparency

On the basis of high matting efficiency, transmittance that does not affect paint adhesion is a very important property. The refractive

index of μm-level silica is about 1.46, and the refractive index of most coating resin materials is 1.4-1.5, which is close, so the transmittance

is good. Theoretically, the increase of average particle size will reduce the light transmittance of architectural coatings. The smaller the

average particle size, the less visible light is transmitted, and more incident rays are diffracted and pass through the matting powder, so

the clarity of the coating is better. Another point is that the light transmittance of matte powder treated with wax is relatively poor.

* Dispersibility

This property is also one of the key properties of matting powder. Matting powder has a honeycomb structure. Long-term rapid dispersion or

grinding will reduce the particle size and destroy the honeycomb structure, resulting in a smooth cross-section, which will affect the matting

effect. Generally, the particle size of all matting powders is within 2-15μm, which will not cause damage to the surface. However, it should be

noted that the coarse particle size will have a higher dispersion particle size, which will affect the touch, but will definitely not affect the uniformity

of the surface.

* Anti-settling property

It is mainly related to the particle size and surface treatment. Matting powder particles treated with wax on the surface are not easy to form hard

deposits. If there is no dispersed anti-settling agent in the customer's system, it is recommended that he use wax-treated matting powder.

* Compressibility

The matting powder with small residual oil absorption has small compressibility for architectural coatings. High-quality matting powder cannot have

a strong thickening effect on the system, otherwise it will cause the system to be too compressible. If the customer wants to make matting slurry, it is

recommended to recommend matting powder with small residual oil absorption. Because the matting slurry with large compressibility is not easy to use;

in addition, the compressibility of wax-treated is small.

* Surface effect

Fine-grained matting powder feels more delicate, and the matting powder treated with wax feels better and looks smoother.
