What is precipitation method for getting silica Matting Agent?

The main component of silica is SiO2. According to different production methods, silica can be divided into precipitated silica, gel silica and gas

phase silica. The production methods of these three products are different, and their properties and uses are also very different.

Precipitated silica

The following products are produced by sulfuric acid precipitation method, that is, precipitated silica, and the following silicas are all precipitated silica.

The size of the reinforcing effect of silica mainly depends on its specific surface area, which generally increases with the increase of specific surface area.

Therefore, different formulations and uses require different specific surface areas. The effect of specific surface area on the physical and mechanical

properties of vulcanized rubber is not always consistent.

As the pH value increases (acidity decreases), the rubber vulcanization speed increases. The less soluble salt, the better, but the lower the cost. It is

manifested as the number of surface hydroxyl groups. If there are too many, it is easy to cause the structuring of rubber composites and make the material

brittle.

The oil absorption value reflects the structural degree, the larger the oil absorption value, the smaller the structural degree, the greater the elongation strength

of the vulcanized rubber, the greater the tensile strength and hardness, especially the smaller the wear resistance, but the lower the elongation.

 

Reflects the amount of free water in the gaps between particles. When the degree of glue structuring is too low, rubber refining becomes difficult. If heated and

reduced to zero, silica is useless. Generally, it is more appropriate to control it at around 6%.

 

What are the main functions to add silica matting agent into PET film?

The main purpose of adding silica to PET waterproof inkjet film coating is to enhance the physical and chemical properties of the coating, including:

1. Improve waterproofness: Silica has good hydrophobicity and can form a waterproof protective layer to prevent moisture from penetrating into the PET

substrate.

2. Enhance weather resistance: Silica is stable under ultraviolet light, can effectively resist ultraviolet damage, and extend the service life of the film.

3. Improve printability: By adjusting the particle size and distribution of silica, the smoothness and absorbency of the PET film surface can be improved, thereby

improving the quality and effect of inkjet printing.

4. Increase wear resistance and scratch resistance: Silica particles can enhance the hardness of the coating, making the film surface more wear-resistant and

scratch-resistant.

5. Adjust air permeability: As needed, the content of silica in the coating can be controlled to adjust the air permeability of the final product for different application

scenarios.

In practical applications, the amount of silica added, the particle size, and the ratio with other ingredients will have an important impact on the final performance of the

coating. Therefore, the development of such coatings usually requires detailed research and testing to find the optimal formulation and process conditions.
