by burning silicon tetrachloride in a hydrogen-oxygen flame. The resulting silica particles are very small and have a high

surface area, which makes them highly hydrophilic (water-loving).

Hydrophilic fumed silica is widely used in various industries, including coatings, adhesives, sealants, and plastics, due to

its unique properties. It acts as a Thickening Agent, anti-settling agent, and anti-caking agent, and can also improve the

flow and leveling properties of the final product.

In addition, fumed silica can also improve the mechanical properties of composites, such as tensile strength and impact

resistance. It is also used as a reinforcing filler in elastomers and as a Matting Agent in paints and coatings.
