First of all, we should know that silica matting agent is a technical chemical material which is mainly found in quartz or sand in the nature.

The original silica has no any functions. Only when it is processed by technologies, it can provide different properties like matte effect,

transparency ability, high suspension performance and so on. We use precipitation method to get precipitated silica.

Actually,using silica matting agent into canvas is not directly used in canvas but used in canvas' printing ink. It is often as additive to add in

paint.

During paint is producing, we should mix the suitable silica matting agent into the paint to make mixing evenly with paint. The production

should be under an environment wiht better ventilation system even though silicon dioxide is non-toxic. What's more, silica matting agent has 

chemically inertness which measns it will not react with other chemical raw materials in paint. 

The main function of adding silica matting agent into paint is to make the printed ink become matte which will not reflect the light to obstruct vision.

And it can also help the printed images become colorful and it will not easy to fade.
