If the particles of silica matting powder are too large, the surface of the paint film will be too rough, affecting the touch

and appearance. Choose products with strong porosity (pore capacity). The larger the porosity, the higher the enterprise

powder content, and the better the matting effect. The smaller the symmetrical particle size of the matting powder, the

better the transmittance, but the corresponding matting power will also decrease. It must be emphasized that the excessive

content of fine powder will have an adverse effect on clarity.

* Mixed matting powder with organic raw materials:

The anti-settling effect will be better. As the storage time of the paint increases, the matting powder will show stratification

and accumulation to a certain extent, but if the time is too long, it will still accumulate.

Generally used for topcoat, the topcoat is added with wax to solve the matting powder to prevent accumulation. The hard block

is well compatible with the solvent-based paint system, and there will be no problem of heavy floating adhesion. On the contrary,

it increases the scratch resistance of the paint film. The disadvantage is that the matting powder solved by wax is slightly weaker,

and the light transmittance of the paint film is slightly worse. If it is not solved, the price is cheap and the matting level is good.

If untreated silica is to be used in coatings, there must be high requirements for its structural level and uniformity of particle size.

solid particle. No matter how the manufacturing process is, it cannot be composed of one particle size, but it fluctuates within a certain

particle size range, and it will also produce a certain regularity. Different particle sizes have different probabilities. The powder particles

have good symmetry and good application performance. This article studies in detail the average particle size of silica powder and its

influence on the application performance of silica, which has a certain practical guiding role in the selection of matting powder in coating

production.

* Performance study

1. Matting property

Weigh a certain amount of main paint, add the prepared Curing Agent, adjust the viscosity with a secret recipe thinner for 15~20s and

then spray it on the wood board. Wait for the paint film to be naturally completed and then use a 60° gloss meter for detection.

2. Transparency

Weigh a certain amount of wood finish paint, add a small amount of matting powder, disperse it evenly with a high-speed disperser, pour

it into a 125mL white wide-mouth bottle, and observe the light transmittance with human eyes.

3. Anti-settling property

Deposition speed: Add 5% matting powder to butyl acetate, disperse it evenly with a disperser, pour it into a 125mL white wide-mouth

bottle and let it stand to observe its sedimentation speed. Storage stability: 50 parts of main paint are equipped with main paint℃ and

placed in an oven for 15 days, observe the sedimentation volume, and use an ink knife to detect the sedimentation level.
